Recognised as one of the greatest novels in Colombian literature, The Vortex captures the wild landscapes of the Amazon. Hosted by Mauricio Rivera: author, scholar and visual artist who is also a relative of José Eustasio Rivera, the evening will feature readings from The Vortex, offering insights and reflections on this timeless work. Copies of The Vortex will be available for purchase, alongside La Descarga’s latest album, Fiesta de Corazon, just released.Join us for a night where literature meets music, as iconic Colombian-tropical band: La Descarga breathes life into Rivera’s masterpiece, through electrifying rhythms and heartfelt melodies. Immerse yourself in the lush sounds of Colombia, from the driving beats of porro and puya to the enchanting melodies of cumbia and gaita.
