This two-day course covers folklore, opal traders, collectors and craftsmen as well as opal nomenclature and geological occurrence in Australia and globally. Current techniques for processing opal and maximising its 'play of colour', including opal inlay and mosaic are discussed. Current and historical synthetic and imitation opal are examined and discussed. A review of Ethiopian opal completes this fascinating course.Date
