His fascination with the rich traditions of Central and Eastern Europe has led to this eclectic survey of a broad geographic region, comprising little-heard music by Zdeněk Fibich (Czechia), Frédéric Chopin, Karol Szymanowski, and Grazyna Bacewicz (Poland), Janis Medinš and Volfgangs Darzinš (Latvia), Vasilije Mokranjac (Serbia), Mikalojus Konstantinas Čiurlionis and Vytautas Bacevičius (Lithuania).
