THE COURSE
Following the July 2024 release of the Universal Design for Learning Guidelines 3.0, Illume Learning is thrilled to present a refreshed UDL Online Short-Course featuring brand new sessions presented by the wonderful Dr Katie Novak.
Universal Design for Learning is a framework for inclusive education that aims to lower barriers to learning and optimise each individual’s opportunity to learn. This short-course will examine how educators can use the UDL framework to plan lessons, choose materials, assess learning, and improve instructional practice to ensure that all learners can access and participate in meaningful, challenging learning opportunities.

Katie Novak, Ed.D. is an internationally renowned education consultant, a practicing leader in education, and author of 14 books on inclusive practices and Universal Design for Learning as well as an internationally recognised expert on UDL implementation.
THE SESSIONS
On-demand 1st February - 28th February (1 hour)
Beginners Guide to Universal Design for Learning - presented by Amanda Corby
This session will provide an overview of the Universal Design for Learning (UDL) framework for those who are new to the world of UDL. The session is designed to provide an overview UDL, including the UDL guidelines, in preparation for the following sessions. The session will look at the scientific insights into how humans learn, and how this research underpins UDL, including learner variability and the three networks of the brain. This session is optional viewing, serving as an introduction to UDL for those who are new to the framework.
LIVE 8pm AEST 5th February / On-demand 6th February - 19th February (1 hour)
Unlearning: Tried and True Practices to Embrace UDL - presented by Katie Novak
- Understand core components of Universal Design for Learning (UDL) through the Unlearning cycle and how 'knowing' UDL is different than 'understanding' UDL
- Reflect on the value of having options and choices as a learner in a universally designed learning experience
LIVE 8pm AEST 12th February / On-demand 13th February - 26th February (1 hour)
Equity by the Design: The Power and Promise of UDL for All Learners - presented by Katie Novak
- Understand how the implementation of Universal Design for Learning (UDL) can eliminate inequities and foster inclusive practice and equity in our classrooms and schools.
- Learn how to apply the first steps in beginning social justice and equity work in our classrooms and learning communities.
- Make connections between UDL and social justice in our schools.
LIVE 8pm AEST 26th February / On-demand 27th February - 12th March (1 hour)
UDL Design: How to Ensure All Learners Reach the Highest of Expectations - presented by Katie Novak
- Learn about the iterative UDL design process and how it can be applied in your learning environment
- Create wildly important goals to create more inclusive, equitable learning environments with lead measures that will get you there!

Registration Fees
General registration: $269 per person (incl GST)
Group registration: $239 per person (incl GST) for groups of 4 or more registered in the same booking

For bookings made by credit card, a tax invoice will be issued by Trybooking with your confirmation email.
Need a tax invoice* prior to payment? Simply enter the code 'INVOICE' into the 'Gift/Promotional Code' section of your cart. No payment will be required and an invoice will be issued to the billing address provided within 2 working days.
*Please note registrations are considered confirmed on submission of the booking and event terms and conditions will apply. Payment terms are 7 days from date of invoice issue.
BOOKING TERMS & CONDITIONS
- Where an invoice is requested, registrations are considered final on submission of the booking form and all event terms and conditions, including cancellation policy, will apply.
- Access is provided for the registered individual/s only. Access details are unique to you and cannot be shared. Sharing access details will compromise your access to the platform and your registration will be cancelled. You will not be eligible for a refund.
- All cancellations must be made in writing to admin@illumelearning.com.au. For cancellations for any reason, including change of mind, the following terms apply-
- Cancellations made by 5pm AEST 30th January 2025 will be eligible for a refund less a $50 cancellation fee.
- Cancellations made after 5pm AEST 30th January 2025 will not be eligible for any refund.
- Refunds will not be offered in the event of non-attendance.

- Access to each session will cease at 11:59pm AEST on the end date indicated. No extensions will be available under any circumstances.
