Modi Deng in solo recital
Modi Deng is a pianist and writer. Having studied at the Royal Academy of Music in London, she has won international and national prizes. She has performed with New Zealand’s major orchestras, and at UK and Europe venues such as Wigmore Hall and the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.
She is back at Tempo to perform a programme about distance: the gulf between two lovers in Liszt’s Ballade; Schumann’s real separation from Clara as he wrote his Fantasie. Shimmering and playful, one hand shadows the other in Claire Cowan’s Shadow Hands.
