City of Melbourne Libraries and PayPal Fashion Festival proudly present a set of simultaneous workshops with Melanie Read of Future Archive and electronic musician Jannah Quill.Two creators whose practices span the re-appropriation of textile waste or consumer electronic materials in either fashion and design, or electronic music contexts.
The workshops presented by Future Archive and Jannah Quill will provide attendees the opportunity to explore experimental approaches to re-appropriating materials through utilising (and learning) the basics of sewing and soldering.
Future Archive will provide participants with the opportunity to redesign textile waste and learn how to make their own upcycled pocket.
With Jannah Quill, participants will learn the foundational skills of wire stripping and soldering electronics through the process of creating their own DIY solar panel instrument which can later be housed in the upcycled Future Archive pocket.
