Yawa (Long Journey) collaborative art workshop Maree Clarke

Yawa (Long Journey) with Maree Clarke
Friday 31 January to Sunday 2 February
At Berninneit, Cowes
---
Join us for 'Yawa (Long Journey)', a unique hands-on glass art workshop with artist Maree Clarke.
This is a rare opportunity to participate in the creation of a collaborative artwork that will remain on public display at Berninneit, while learning about traditional Aboriginal practices and the stories that inspire them. This is a free, drop-in event.
Community participation
Maree Clarke will stage a public workshop at Berninneit, Cowes, where community, friends and family can come together to help arrange the Murrini glass to create the patterned sections of the canoe.
The canoe will reference traditional Aboriginal ways of travelling and living on the island and the long connection to the waterways. This will bring the community together and ensure that there is a shared ownership and pride in the work.
