SHRC: UMSU C&S Workshops (Sem 1, 2025)
About
For the UMSU affiliated club or society training you can choose between one of two workshop streams: Bystander Intervention and Responding to Disclosures of sexual violence. Each workshop runs for 90-minutes and is delivered on campus.
Bystander Intervention:
This workshop focuses on how to identify sexual misconduct and be an active bystander. It explores different ways of intervention within clubs and societies events and spaces. This training covers the identification of sexual violence and barriers to intervention and works with students to build skills and strategies for safe intervention.
Responding to Disclosures:
Responding to disclosures of sexual violence aims to equip club and society leaders with the skills to respond supportively and compassionately when someone shares that they are a victim-survivor of sexual violence. This training covers active listening techniques, policies, appropriate responses, and guidance on connecting survivors with support resources while maintaining confidentiality and respecting their autonomy.
