TroubadourFolk: Katie Spencer, Houseconcert Wed 12 March '25
About
“Katie’s guitar playing has echoes of ... the late great Bert Jansch. Like a musical weaver she threads her poetic lyrics through the guitar’s strings and produces little tapestries of song.”– Ralph McTell
Yorkshire born singer-songwriter and guitarist, Katie Spencer, was raised in the flatlands of Northern England. Her landscape has always been that of open skies, widening rivers and industry that still shapes the city ... the people, and the land. This sense of space and movement flows through Katie Spencer’s music. In her songwriting, and guitar playing, artists like Joni Mitchell, James Taylor and Michael Chapman, flow into her sound, carrying with them the warmth and idealism of the early 70’s folk and songwriter movements.
Her houseconcert with the Troubadour is the final performance of an international tour that has taken her through the UK, to Holland, Germany, France, Canada, and Port Fairy and the Blue Mountains Festivals in Australia. It will be truly special.
