Melbourne Georgian Choir 2025

Two terms of 8 weeks each followed by a third term of 12 weeks led by Krys Derwinski.

Rehearsals will be held each Saturday afternoon, 2:30pm to 4:30pm in the beautiful Community Church of St Mark in Clifton Hill unless noted otherwise, and will also be streamed on Zoom if requested.

Newcomers to the choir can attend the first workshops each term free of charge as a try out.

Extended workshops will be organised early in each term to enhance learning and make the choir more accessible to those not living in Melbourne.

We love special events, picnics, supras (Georgian inspired feasts), concerts and festivals, anything that strengthens the choir community and puts the focus on singing our songs well.

MGC performed at five events in the Cygnet Folk Festival in Tasmania in January.

A retreat in Malmsbury, Central Victoria, will be held on the weekend of 17th-19th October.

Krys Derwinski has been MGC's music director since January 2020. In 2022 he initiated the very successful weekend of Georgian singing in Malmsbury, Central Victoria. Krys is greatly respected musician, teacher and workshop leader deeply involved in Georgian music. Everyone is welcome to explore this unique repertoire with us. Krys will be away in Georgia in September.

Rehearsal resources will be made avaliable via Dropbox.

Rehearsal materials include recordings of each part plus the parts combined, and sheet music.
