The Secret Life of Bats (SOLD OUT)

About
Bats play an essential role in ecosystem health. They are a diverse group of mammals that have fascinating adaptations and behaviours.Join us for our walk and talk where you will learn about your local bat species that often go unseen and unheard in the environment.
This session will cover where bats like to live, what they like to eat, adaptations to flight and how they navigate and communicate.
We will also talk about current threats to bat species and how you can help.
On our walk you will be able to show you how we detect bats that have ultrasonic calls (above our hearing range), look out for suitable bat habitat and hopefully see some bats in action.
Our presenter will be Laura Owen, an ecologist who works with Wildlife Unlimited in Bairnsdale. Laura studied zoology and is passionate about bats. Laura's work includes field studies, research and community education.
