Rufous Whistler with Tim Woodz & The Dirty Shoes
About
Hailing from Northeast Victoria (Wiradjuri Country), Rufous Whistler blends raw storytelling with modern alt-country flair. Their heartfelt songs and dynamic live shows—featuring guitars, twin fiddles, mandolin, and harmony-rich vocals—have earned national airplay, AMRAP chart success, and earned the hearts of audiences across Australia. In 2025, they’ll release their debut album National Panic and embark on an extensive tour across Australia, New Zealand, the UK, and Europe.Like a Jazz crooning, folk rocker at an Aussie BBQ, Tim Woodz makes up songs with interesting stories. His music is uplifting, clever and nostalgic which has landed him in the folk festival circuit since 2012 and touring with iconic performer Tex Perkins. Tim grew up in Gippsland Victoria, being inspired by his parents who’d perform in the local folk club, Tim started creating punk inspired folk songs or perhaps the other way around as teenager, which led him to write in a lyrically naïve style.
