Unity Tree Workshop - Wallsend Library

About
Help celebrate our community and share your hopes for the future by creating an origami crane for Newcastle’s Unity Tree. The tradition of folding 1000 origami cranes, known as senbazuru, is believed to grant a wish or bring good fortune. We're hoping to fold over 1000 cranes as a powerful symbol of hope, peace and unity. The workshop will cover origami (folded paper) and kirigami (cut paper). You'll learn to fold origami cranes and/or help add feathers to our larger-than-life birds. We encourage you to write the hopes and wishes you have for the future on the wings or feathers of the cranes. Presented as part of Harmony Week.
Please then join us on 2 December to see the cranes fly together for a joyful tree lighting ceremony at the Newcastle City Library.
