Alan Baker Art Gallery

Alan Baker Art Gallery showcases the work of local Australian artist, Alan Baker. Situated in the historic Victorian Gentleman’s Townhouse, Macaria, Baker’s collection provides a colourful portrayal of the artist’s life in 20th century Australia, capturing 60 years of the artist’s journey. Baker’s collection shares stories of war, tragedy, love, the people and places of Macarthur, and the role he played in developing an arts network in Camden.

Art Workshop: Painting the Nepean River

Tuesday 8 October 2024
To celebrate the opening of the Nepean River Waterway Walk along the Camden Bike Track, Camden Council's Sustainability Team is sponsoring FREE art workshops to be run this school holidays. Children and youth will learn about the natural features, native plants and animals found along the Nepean River while creating a painted work on canvas. The sessions are run by age group, so please ensure your child is booked into the correct session. Some children may be in direct sunlight and all will be using paint, so please ensure attendees are wearing sunscreen, sun safe clothing, and either mess friendly clothes or a paint smock. Please ensure that your child brings a water bottle to the workshop. If your child is unable to make the event, please forfeit the ticket so someone else can enjoy this fantastic activity!

Camden Art Prize - Talk to the Artist, Demonstration Tour

Visit the Camden Art Prize to witness artists at work and share their insight into their unique artform, discuss the exhibition and hear about techniques used to create the art on display. From 10am till 12 Join with Brett Atkins, well know local master of the photographic world as he shares tips and techniques to advance your own skills. Brett will lead a tour through the photography section and discuss with visitors the artworks on display. From 11am till 2pm watch the amazing Rizwanna Ahmed in practice as she demonstrates the art of portraiture. Rizwanna will lead a tour through the Portraiture Artworks discussing the works, and artist techniques as a body of work. From 1 through till 4pm Bob Gurney, local landscape and En Plein Air artist will demonstrate his techniques and lead visitors through the local section of the exhibition. Bob will discuss various art methodology and share an insightful discussion. All works are for sale.

En Plein Air (Outdoor Painting)
