Hats Is an independent arts/event organization formed in 2010 to present live music performance and cultural events to the Mid North /Clare Valley. Based in the heritage town of Auburn Clare Valley Hats have converted an old heritage listed Courthouse & Police Station into an award-winning live music venue. Delivering a huge diversity of musical genres annually performers come from all around the world. All Hats performances are unique and affordable.

A Country Evening With The Southern Byways

Join multi-instrumentalists Karl Zander and Andrea Duff for an evening of thought provoking stories, told through vintage country music classics, and highly regarded originals. After intermission, they invite you to join a ‘Big Country Sing’ in the tradition of a 'pop-up choir’ - song sheets will be provided, although these classics are universally recognised!. This versatile duo have been playing together for more than 20 years and their award-winning musicianship has featured at Elder Hall and on Country Radio, Tamworth. They are regulars on the live music circuit in Adelaide and Country South Australia. You will be enfolded in warm country timbres in the first half and caroused by favourite classics in the second.

Bassist, Trish Drioli, also joins them to bring Ian’s original songs to life. As he says “ lots of little stories, all complete in themselves”; a performance that is an entertaining and enriching experience.

Keith Potgers Celebrating the Seekers Concert

Keith Potger’s solo tribute to the group he helped to form back in 1962 covers the songs, the stories and the influences that shaped The Seekers in their rise to international fame. CELEBRATING THE SEEKERS is an audio-visual treat, with rare footage and still photos of the group. His 12 string guitar was an integral part of their sound and being the arranger of the vocal harmonies he had a unique place in the group. During his performance Keith pays a special tribute to his colleague and dear friend of 60 years, the late and great JUDITH DURHAM. This special program contains some timeless favourites from The Seekers, some beautiful original ballads from his three solo CDs and a few hits from the ‘60s to the ‘80s that influenced the group and appeal to the generation who grew up playing SEEKERS albums at home or in the car. Throughout his show, Keith shares stories and amusing anecdotes from almost 60 years on the international music scene.

Allye Sinclair (cello), Rob Wallace (violin) and Dylan Woolcock (mandolin) are three Adelaide musicians who have performed as a string trio since December 2021 to play original chamber folk (largely written by Allye). Chamber Folk is a style of typically gentle fingerpicked acoustic guitar that initially gained prominence in the UK and the US during the mid-to-late 1960s. It is defined by an elegant and intimate style of arrangement and production, creating a sound that can be described as wistful, fey, pastoral and whimsical. This trio bring the tunes to life, it will make you move and smile. Regular house guests at Urrbrae House we know they will be right at home at The Hats heritage Courthouse. So come along and enjoy an evening of intimate music, with a sweet blend of strings delivering a fresh mix of melody and rhythmic drive along with a dose of subtle humour.

Meanwhile Back At The Ranch… is an Adelaide based swing band with a difference. The band takes on the traditions of the Western Swing genre which feature a rich stew of music styles and was a precursor to rock and roll, reaching its zenith with Bob Wills and the Texas Playboys. Predominantly 1930s/40s dance music string band jazz played with fiddles, guitars double bass and drums. In it you can you can hear Hillbilly Boogie, Swing, Gypsy Jazz, early rockabilly and blues They aim to swing the classics from every genre whether 100 years ago or 10 and with wit and energy. A most entertaining and fun entertaining band! AND they come with a support Act SAs very own Djangalang. An acoustic trio playing classic swing hits. Djangalang features Adelaide’s well known jazz guitarist George Grifsas and also the very accomplished Belinda Kendall Smith from the ASO on double bass .

An Evening with Angela and Leo will take you on a jazz- and blues-soaked journey through classics of the Great American Songbook as well as some richly textured blues and jazz tunes and of course some of their original tunes. Angela Lount is one of Australia’s finest jazz vocalists and a stalwart of the thriving Canberra music scene. Angela inhabits every song she sings. Her soulful voice takes the always enthralled audience with her as she breathes fresh life into every song she sings. South Australian audiences have been treated to her phenomenal performances since 2016 and recently when she has toured the State both with Leo Joseph in their ever popular piano-vocal duo mode or as part of Canberra-based band Key Grip. Originally from Adelaide, Leo Joseph returned to Australia in 2005 from 8 years in the US and has been based in Canberra ever since. With forty years of piano playing Leo provides for the most soulful accompaniment to Angelas vocals.

Nancy Bates is a Barkindji Woman, and an accomplished singer-songwriter. She was under the wings of National treasure Archie Roach for 4 years as a backing vocalist and guitarist for his wonderful songs and music. Nancy is one of SA's foremost indigenous female singers and a popular artist who is in high demand at festivals and special events. Nancy is a celebrated First Nation’s Australian singer, songwriter, entrepreneur, and 2022 Finalist for the Australian Women in Music’s Humanitarian Award. Four years on the road with Archie Roach have spurred Bates on to become a powerful presence on stage, an advocate for Mental Health, and tireless campaigner for climate action, and human rights. In recent years she has collaborated with many women in prison, turning their experiences of pain and loss into beautiful music. Come and help us celebrate.

Drawing on Old Time Americana and Celtic traditions, Broken Creek creates intricate chamber folk arrangements for banjo, guitar, violin and voice that reimagines songs, stories and musical traditions from the past to connect them to our present moment. Lachlan Heycox (guitar/banjo/mandolin/percussion) and Erin Heycox (vocals/fiddle) grew up in rural Victoria steeped in bush bands and balladeers before moving to Melbourne. Named for the creek Erin grew up near, the name Broken Creek signals a love of traditional music with an adventurous musical bent to “break” with the same old ways of playing folk music. 2022 sees them releasing their debut album ‘Small Town Anthropologies’ and launching a national Small Town Tour and recording tunes in gorgeous rural locations.
