The skilled Queensland musician David Bailey will once again present his own compositions and popular favourites with a curated selection of classic "two-reeler" short comedy films from the 1920s. The movies feature the great comedians of Hollywood's early days including Buster Keaton, Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy. They will once again be brought to life for your entertainment with a live musical accompaniment, just as they would have been screened originally. A rare opportunity not to be missed.

Special Regent Wurlitzer Event

Come along to the spectacular Regent Theatre to hear a mini-concert on the Wurlitzer in the morning and a members' open console in the afternoon. (A break will be provided for members to leave the theatre to buy their lunch.) (PLEASE NOTE: Although this event is strictly for organ society members only, non-members have the opportunity to purchase a combined ticket with membership, receiving a $15 discount on the full fee.) This is an extremely rare opportunity to hear and play the Mighty Wurlitzer at the Regent Theatre and has been made possible by the kind cooperation of the Marriner Group. Proceeds will assist with the restoration and installation of the Capitol Wurlitzer.

A Dendy Concert at the Capitol?!?!

The former Dendy Wurlitzer organ is in the process of being relocated back to its original home at the Capitol Theatre. This will take a lot of resources over the next year or two. In the meantime, however, theatre organ society members are invited to experience some of the magic at this special members' fundraising screening of the "final Dendy concert", which was recorded last year without an audience due to pandemic restrictions.

For over 50 years, the 1924 Wurlitzer Theatre Pipe Organ fondly known as "Eliza" has been played in Brighton at the Dendy Theatre. Changes to the building now require that she look for a new home. In the meantime, come and hear Eliza sing one last time at her old digs, with skilled artists John Atwell, John Giacchi and David Johnston. Presented by Melbourne Theatre Organ and its president Scott Harrison, join us for an included afternoon tea after this historic final concert.
