The Patience of Job - Reflections on the Human Condition

Sunday 22 September 2024
Murray Concert Choir welcomes Dr Kieran Crichton as the Musical Director for the coming concert, The Patience of Job. Dr Crichton has a wealth of choral music experience which he brings to the presentation of this concert. The pieces in the concert have been selected to reflect different aspects of the human condition. The centre piece is a selection of three lessons from The Lamentations of Job by the sixteenth century Dutch composer Roland De Lassus. Job is the biblical figure of the patient, long suffering good man who nevertheless argues with his God. Other aspects of the human condition include a sense of wonder at one’s place in the universe (I Am Humbled); the sadness of losing a friend (Angel); the longing for lasting love (Anyone); preparing for life’s end (Crossing The Bar); kindness and peacefulness in old age (Sure On This Shining Night). This concert is full of lovely music which is sure to delight patrons.
