Hedda Gabler

The Maleny Players next production is Hedda Gabler, written by the Norwegian playwright Henrik Ibsen, which was first published in 1890. Hedda Gabler, has just returned from her honeymoon with her new husband, Jorgen Tesman. Despite her marriage, Hedda is deeply unhappy and is bored with her life. This play explores themes of power, control, and societal expectations, with Hedda often seen as a complex and manipulative character. Throughout the play, she struggles to break free from the confines of her life and exert control over those around her.

MALENY PLAYERS HEAD WEST !

On the weekend 13-14 July, nine members of the Maleny Players are taking three local 10-minute Maleny plays from the PAGE TO STAGE and STAGES programs to the prestigious Dalby Drama Festival. Touring costs! This preview evening is aimed at assisting the Maleny Players’ eight members forming the ensemble team to meet the substantial costs of overnight accommodation and travel.

The Real Inspector Hound

The Real Inspector Hound by Tom Stoppard is a witty and satirical play, a whodunit murder mystery, with a theatrical twist. A direct parody of Agatha Christie's " This is a 'play within a play'. Two feuding theatre critics Moon and Birdboot are absorbed into the play, which takes place in a Manor in the middle of a moor and become dangerously implicated in the activities of an escapee.

Radio Times

A humorous and nostalgic trip back in time to the Golden Age of Radio. They play actors broadcasting from a Brisbane radio station in 1954. They first present ‘The Maroochy Flyer’ by Errol Morrison, which provides a fanciful retelling of a true event in which a plane landed on a beach, and ‘Quiet Flows the Obi Obi’, a satirical take on Maleny’s past, present and future. As they proceed to broadcast further items, including a parody of the famous serial ‘Blue Hills’, things begin to go haywire
