The Queensland Academies are selective independent public senior high schools developing highly capable young people on their preferred academic pathways. Brilliant Futures Induction Ceremony

Thursday 12 February 2026
Queensland Academies Creative Industries would like to invite you to the Induction Ceremony. It is here that you will receive your official welcome to the program and meet both the QACI Principal and the Program Coordinator. Registration commences at 4pm with the ceremony to commence at 4:15pm. The ceremony will conclude at 5pm with refreshments provided at the conclusion. The Induction Ceremony will take place in the QACI Theatre, Level 2 61 - 73 Musk Avenue, Kelvin Grove. Please note that QACI is a vertical school. We do not have parking available on site. Historically, we have had families park in the QUT parking opposite our building for events at the school. Please be mindful that this carpark closes at 6pm. Large costs are incurred to open the carpark after this time. There is metered parking in the streets surrounding the campus.

Global Explorations Collaborative Challenge

Saturday 14 March 2026
This learning engagement consists of three online modules that together form one complete learning experience. Students will explore topics such as the world in maps and numbers, global data and nutrition and our digital society. Each week includes short activities and including quizzes (about 60–90 minutes each module). Module 1 Released: Wed 11 Feb Module 2 Released: Wed 18 Feb Module 3 Released: Wed 25 Feb Global Explorations Collaborative Challenge After completing the online modules, students participate in a hands-on Global Explorations Challenge, where they apply their knowledge and skills in a series of dynamic, creative, and collaborative activities. This challenge extends the online learning experience, inspiring students to think globally, work as a team, and celebrate their discoveries. Saturday 14 March - 9:30am - 12:30pm

Bright Minds - Environmental Systems and Societies (ESS)

Between Wednesday 25 March 2026 and Thursday 2 April 2026
Environmental systems and societies (ESS) is a very popular IB Diploma subject at QACI. ESS explores how people and the environment interact, using both scientific and social perspectives to understand real-world challenges. In this workshop, students will investigate an ESS idea through a familiar context, such as circular economy, water security, waste management or urban infrastructure, with the exact topic still to be confirmed. Through hands-on activities and collaborative problem-solving, they’ll get a lively first taste of ESS’s dynamic, interdisciplinary approach. Year 10 2026 Orientation Day

Wednesday 3 December 2025
We would like to invite Year 10 2026 students to their Orientation Day taking place at QACI on Wednesday 3 December from 8:30am - 2:30pm. We require parents to drop off their student at the Level 1 Gallery, 61 - 73 Musk Avenue entrance from 8:30am in readiness for a 9am start. Students will not be allowed to leave the campus until the conclusion of the day at 2.30pm where they may depart for the day. We request that students wear modest comfortable clothing with sleeves that will allow for movement with enclosed shoes for the day. Please - no singlets, no midriff tops or thongs. As new students are still considered external visitors to the campus, we require confirmation of student attendance. Please provide their RSVP here prior to Thursday 27 November, 9am.

 ASPIRE is taking place at the Chandler Theatre, Sleeman Sports Complex, Chandler; the perfect backdrop to showcase innovation, inquisitiveness, and internationalism. ASPIRE is an event for our whole school community and includes those from the wider fields of education, creative industries, and business, committed to the future of QACI’s vision.

Grimm's Tales - Year 10 Theatre Production

Step into the Dark Magic of Grimm’s Tales Queensland Academies Creative Industries proudly presents its Year 10 Theatre Production of Grimm’s Tales, translated by Carol Ann Duffy and dramatised by Tim Supple. This visually stunning and highly theatrical production brings the Brothers Grimm’s classic stories to life in bold and imaginative ways. Directed by Theatre Teachers Laura Hague and Brad Jennings and performed by a talented ensemble of Year 10 Theatre students, the show promises a thrilling journey through the twisted forests, strange encounters, and hauntingly beautiful worlds of these timeless tales. Don’t miss this chance to experience a reimagined collection of fairy tales like you’ve never seen them before—dark, dazzling, and utterly unforgettable. Refreshments in the Level 2 Foyer prior to the performance - 5:45pm - 6:30pm.

Please arrive at least ten minutes prior to the commencement of your tour. The tour will depart from the main foyer on Level 2 at the scheduled booking time. Please enter the building via our main entrance at 61 Musk Avenue, Kelvin Grove. While parking is not available on site, ample street parking is located in the Kelvin Grove Urban Village precinct. As tour numbers are restricted, we ask that you please cancel your booking if you are unable to attend so that your space/s can be made available to others.

For our graduating students, this performance represents their final opportunity to share their artistry with the QACI community before embarking on new journeys beyond QACI. With an array of films, spanning genres and styles and with influences from multiple movements, from heart-pounding thrillers to heartwarming dramas, laugh-out-loud comedies and everything in between, this is a night to celebrate the masters behind the scenes. We all know that films are not just about what happens on the screen; they are a celebration of the brilliant minds and dedicated talents that make it all possible. From visionary directors to gifted writers, skilled cinematographers to ingenious editors and sound designers, and the passionate actors who bring characters to life – we salute them all! Tickets are complimentary however booked within a limited context of availability.

Absurd Theatre: Windmills In My Mind

"Round like a circle in a spiral, like a wheel within a wheel, never ending or beginning on an ever-spinning reel.” Noel Harrison. Windmills in my Mind is a showcase of Year 11 Theatre students’ exploration into existentialism and Theatre of the Absurd. Forming part of the students’ enquiry into collaborative theatre-making, this public performance is the result of a 6-week creative development process where students have devised original productions, inspired by a starting point. This strictly limited season will be staged in-the-round in the QACI Theatre Studio. Through unexpected twists and inventive narrative structures, Theatre of the Absurd challenges you to question assumptions and reflect on the complexities of the human experience. The performance features 7 original pieces and runs for approximately 90 minutes. Considerations: Shows may contain adult themes, theatrical haze and strobe lighting.

Arriving at...Year 7&8 Dance Workshop

Friday 8 August 2025
As part of our Education Queensland Outreach program a limited opportunity for Year 7 & 8 dance students is available to participate in an ACARA curriculum-based workshop on Friday 8 August, 4pm (Term 3 Week 4) at QACI. The $15 workshop also includes dinner and two tickets (student and parent) to attend the Arriving At Dance showcase taking place on Friday 8 August, 6:30pm. There is limited availability for this workshop and bookings are essential. Students are invited to engage in a contemporary dance workshop exploring key techniques and expressive skills facilitated and led by Australasian Dance Collective Teaching Artist, Bella Hood. Bella Hood is a visionary contemporary dance artist and educator known for her innovative choreography and dynamic performances across Australia. As co-founder of kin dance company and a gifted teaching artist, she brings a rich, holistic approach to movement that inspires dancers of all levels.
