Seamanship Course 2024/2025
Between Thursday 30 January 2025 and Thursday 9 October 2025
Three courses a year - Our small boat handling course provides you with the practical skills and confidence to skipper a small vessel. Course is eight Thursday evenings and one day practical on the water with our vessel.
Satisfactory completion of this course meets the requirements for the issue of a South Australian recreational power boat license from Service SA (fee applicable).
Different requirements apply for 12-15 year olds who can obtain a special operators permit. This includes a practial test which must be completed with a Marine Safety Officer. Refer Department of Planning, Transport and Infrastructure for details.

Navigation Course
Tuesday 17 December 2024
Navigation course provide training on the principals latitude/longitude and the foundation for search and rescue techniques.
Please note, the prerequisite for this course is you must be a Marine Crew Member.

Reditalk-Flex training session
Between Wednesday 5 June 2024 and Saturday 7 December 2024
Training session that covers information about the new RediTalk-Flex radio system in the Operations Centre.
It is a requirement for all Adelaide Flotilla Radio Operators to complete the training, to ensure correct use of the system.

I will be holding an information session about SA Sea Rescue Squadron (SASRS) training pathways.
I will be covering training requirements of:
• Radio Operator
• Crew Member
• Skipper
SA Sea Rescue Squadron
Marine Radio (Short Range Operator Certificate) 2024/2025
Between Saturday 24 February 2024 and Saturday 23 November 2024
Four courses a year - Operators of marine radio are legally required to complete a certificate of proficiency. The Short-Range Operator Certificate of Proficiency (SROCP) covers the VHF equipment fitted to many small craft. The course covers both the theory and practice of radio operations.
Fee includes Marine VHF Radio Operators Handbook and the exam.

Cancellation policy
All cancellations incur a min $40 admin fee. 72 hours prior to the course 50% of the course fee ($100). 48 hours prior to the course 100% of the course fee. No shows forfeit 100% of the course fee.
