She took a brave leap towards new opportunities, with a move interstate to take up an opportunity that then set her on a path of continuous learning and growth. Leanne says she is grateful for the experiences, the opportunities and the relationships that have led to her becoming part of the Tasmanian Hospitality Association’s executive team. She will share her insights and experience with us, and talk about how she put action to her motivation for a new challenge, and embarked on a new career journey.

Paula is the owner and Managing Director of Leishman Associates, a conference and event management agency based in Hobart. She founded the business 30 years ago as the sole employee, and it has since grown to a nationally recognised agency in Australia, boasting a team of 19. Leishman Associates operates both globally and across all Australian states annually. In 2012, Paula was honored as Tasmania's Telstra Business Owner of the Year, and her business has received numerous industry awards. Paula serves as a director for Business Events Tasmania and the Professional Conference Organisers Association. Throughout her 30-year career, she has mentored and supported many women in achieving their full potential, a role she finds especially rewarding.

Women in Leadership - A Conversation with Frances Bender

Be inspired, informed and engaged with the first of our six webinars - a Conversation with Frances Bender. Frances grew up in the Huon and built a company with an international reputation that championed the Huon and Tasmania. Starting as cattle and sheep farmers, Frances and her husband Peter owned a butcher shop, started Tasmania’s first trellised apricot orchard and in 1985 they began salmon farming. The Benders created the Huon Aquaculture brand, Australia's largest family owned and operated salmon producer, with over 1000 staff. Huon’s operations spanned the full supply chain, and the business is recognised as a world leader of technological adaptation and innovation. Frances’ professional awards are numerous, and she is recognised for her passion for helping communities. Frances was inducted into the Tas Honour Roll of Women in 2016.

THA's Women in Leadership program is about celebrating and supporting women in Tourism and Hospitality through scholarship opportunities, networking and engagement and more. Join us at the amazing Cradle Mountain Wilderness Gallery for an evening of great conversation, art and delicious wine, beer and refreshments. This is a free event for anyone working in the hospitality industry in Tasmania. Bookings are required for catering purposes. Women in Leadership is about women, but we encourage and welcome all genders to come along to this event.
