The group conducts day and evening art classes for both beginners and advanced students in all media and also holds art exhibitions, demonstrations, life drawing classes and social events. You must be a current financial member of the Glen Eira Cheltenham Art Group to attend our classes and to enter your works in our art exhibitions. This is open to paid up members of GECAG. Bring materials and image of your choice. Start something new or continue with a work that is in progress. There is a rack to store your paintings. Connect with other members in a supportive, friendly environment.

Paint-outs are held on the THIRD Saturday of every month. Everyone is welcome to attend. Please register by 6.00pm on the Friday before the scheduled paint-out so we know who is attending. There is no fee for participation. The painting session will generally conclude by midday.

It is a condition of our participation in the Melbourne International Flower and Garden Show that we have someone monitoring our paintings at all times. We therefore need at least 1 volunteer for each time slot.
You will receive free entry for yourself on the day you are rostered on.
You may volunteer for more than one time slot.

The model, Tamzyn, will be in costume. She will hold the same pose for the two days, giving artists the chance to develop their skills and produce a considered piece of art.

From Inspiration to Creation 2025 Roster Duty
Between Thursday 10 April 2025 and Sunday 18 May 2025
We would like to encourage all members to volunteer for one or more roster duty sessions as it is a requirement of our participation that there is someone on duty at all times that the gallery is open.
If, as a volunteer you don't already have a Working with Children Check, you will not be required to have a WWCC in time for this year's exhibition. This year, volunteers are not required to attend a 30 minute induction into the emergency procedures at the Council Gallery.

Acrylic and Oil Painting Workshop with Vivi Palegeorge.

Vivi will demonstrate two step by step paintings, by blocking in with acrylics and finishing off with oils. Students will get the opportunity to work with Vivi, learning how to use these two mediums side by side. Attention will be given to shape, form, tone, colour and edges.

Mixed Media Workshop with Maxine Wade
Saturday 18 January 2025
We will be working with natural forms - both dried and living flora, to create still life compositions
using a variety of mixed media, both wet and dry. Pens and pencils, paints and inks, graphite,
charcoal and pastels. We will also experiment with adding some collage for texture.
Composition will be discussed, along with design elements of COLOUR, TEXTURE and LINE.
The emphasis will be on playful experimentation!

Extended Pose Life Drawing

This is a life drawing event in which the model will hold the same pose for two three-hour sessions, from 10.00am - 1.00pm on Monday January 15th and Friday January 19th.
The participants will be restricted to 8.
