November - Tribute Concert Lu Watters Yerba Buena Jazz Band

Lu Watters Yerba Buena Jazz Band, founded in 1939, was the primary force behind the USA West Coast Great Revival of Traditional Jazz. Lu discovered a love of 1920s hot jazz as played by King Oliver's Creole Jazz Band, Jelly Roll Morton and other pioneering jazz musicians. The Dawn Club, The Big Bear Lodge and Hambone Kelly’s were the hottest Traditional Jazz haunts in San Francisco through the 1940s and 50s, with concerts only interrupted by the war years.
To celebrate the Bands impact, Ian Smith trumpet, John Braben trumpet, Chris Schnack trombone, Paul Williams saxophone & clarinet, Bernice Haydock piano, Glen Flenady banjo, Richard Stevens sousaphone and Rod Andrew drums, will present a concert of the hit tunes made famous by Lu Watters and his band at the height of their popularity.

October - The Fabulous Gypsy Cats

Paying tribute to the great Ladies of Jazz, Robyn and band will be sharing some of the timeless classics from the likes of Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, Sarah Vaughan, Carmen McRae and more.
Joined by highly respected jazz musicians, Peter Walters (bass), Ross Nixon (piano), Trent Bryson-Dean (drums) and Rob McWilliams (trumpet), they bring their own swinging interpretations of many of the standards that you know and love, plus some hidden gems you may never have heard before.
This intimate performance will be a window into the past, reliving the songs of another era and often sharing the stories behind them.

Your next amazing jazz event is a tribute to the late Bob Barnard, who was the Noosa Jazz Club’s Patron and great supporter since its inception in the mid-1990s, and his brother, the late Len Barnard.
To mark the occasion The Jazz Club is featuring Rebecca Barnard, Len’s daughter who continued the musical tradition of the Barnard family as a singer songwriter.
Bob & Len’s parents Jim and Kath Barnard, ran The Kath Barnard Jazz Band in Melbourne in the 1930s and 40s. Len joined the band as a drummer in the 1940’s at the age of 12 and Bob debuted as a trumpet player at age 13 in 1947. Both went on to stellar careers in the world of jazz both in Australia and overseas

‘Winter in Paris’ is a very special concert inspired by the tunes made famous in France by the celebrated clarinet and saxophone player, Sidney Bechet and should not be missed.
To head up the band, the internationally recognised reeds player, Paul Furniss is coming from Sydney to feature these well-loved tunes. He will be accompanied by fellow reeds player Paul Williams, along with Dave Burrows (guitar), Chris Schnack (string bass) John Reeves (piano & accordion) and Rod Andrew (drums).
