Young Adelaide Voices Community Choir 2023
The Young Adelaide Voices Community Choir 2023 is here!
Come and experience the joy of singing in a choir AND an opportunity to perform at the 'Young Adelaide Voices Spring Concert' on Sunday 3rd September, 4pm!
Singing is widely known to enhance your overall health, happiness, and wellbeing, and singing with others in a choir fosters new friendships and strengthens community. Just ask our YAV kids!
Bring a friend and join us for the YAV Community Choir 2023 season to sing a variety of engaging music from different genres and periods, which will lift you up and send you humming into your week!
No auditions or prior singing experience is necessary, simply a love of music.

You might be thinking...
I think/have been told I am tone deaf.
This may have been a very unkind thing that someone said to you when you were younger, but it may not be true. People who are tone deaf cannot hear pitch and are therefore unable to reproduce pitch. It you are unable to produce pitch, you would be consistently speaking with a monotone voice, like a robot. Adults or children who have struggled with singing may not have had the opportunity to work on hearing pitch and then matching pitch, but this can be learnt in a safe environment.
I’m not talented.
Is talent really a thing? Or simply the right opportunity to thrive? We were all born with music as our first language, but we may not have grown up in an environment that developed our music capacity.
I can’t read music.
Reading music isn’t a pre-requisite for our community choir. We will offer several ways for you to engage with the learning: from the lyrics, to recording the melody so you can go home and learn it by memory. We will work at a pace that everyone can keep up.
I’m too old/too busy.
If not now – when? There’s no time like the present to come and have a go and provide balance to the daily grind. The community choir will be limited to a season in each semester, so you are not committed to a weekly rehearsal.
