St Andrews Christian College VCE Theatre Studies students present "Lear: A Shakespearean Tragedy"."Lear" is a condensed version of William Shakespeare’s tragedy "King Lear". The story is about an aging monarch who decides to divide his kingdom among his three daughters. However, his plan goes awry when his youngest daughter refuses to flatter him as her sisters did, leading to a chain of events that ultimately result in Lear's descent into madness and the deaths of several characters. Along the way, themes of power, betrayal, and family are explored, culminating in a tragic ending that leaves audiences with a sense of the futility of human ambition and the consequences of one's actions.
This show is recommended for Mature audiences as it includes portrayals of theatrical violence and themes that require a mature outlook.
