Kingston Historic House Tour and Devonshire tea 10.30 – 1200 pm. Tuesday July 18th.

The tour will start at 10.30am with a Devonshire tea of freshly baked scones on the
premises followed by a talk about the history of the house. This is the oldest historic house in the Holdfast Bay Council area.
The Tjilbruke Monument stands on the nearby headland and commemorates a legend of
the Kaurna people of the Adelaide Plains.
Built in 1840, Kingston House is one of South Australia's oldest remaining houses. It is still being used today. The quiet beauty and hidden charm of the House and Reserve make it a favourite picnic spot for visitors.
Yet the Kingston Family were anything but quiet and tranquil. George Strickland Kingston and son Charles Cameron Kingston were powerful figures in the political landscape of their time.
