About
Djawarray is Bertie Riley, a well respected and talented musician and songwriter from Ngunbay (Kuranda) & Gimuy (Cairns). His highly anticipated EP titled 'Binal' (which translates to 'Understand') will feature four of Djawarray's original songs, which share traditional knowledge from both his Djabugay & Western Yalanji heritage.The production of the project was made possible after receiving a RADF grant from Mareeba Shire Council and through a collaboration with Koahlition Reggae Band to bring his music to the fore.
Djawarray is well regarded for his music among the local population with powerful songlines and messages, sung in a mixture Djabugay, Western Yalanji and English.
Djawarray will be joined by local indigenous band Cloud 9 and the Mayi Wunba Dancers.
