Short films can be a powerful screen industry change agent. Australian short films are acclaimed globally via film festivals and streaming platforms. For the St Kilda Film Festival alone, during the height of COVID pandemic, the online program reached an audience of a staggering 77,000 around the country.Online screenings provide filmmakers with the opportunity to reach individuals who may have thought they were alone. Their ambitious and adventurous spirit can connect people and communities, and the strength of their stories can create a potent tool of advocacy.
In this disability-led discussion, we invite filmmakers from underrepresented communities to share their invaluable experiences. Through short film case studies, we will explore:
