Cyber Security fundamentals
ECU's School of Science: Computing and Security invite high school students and educators to join us for a day of cybersecurity. This workshop is for high school students and/or teachers new to cybersecurity who would like to know more about the practical aspects. Join us as we explore free online tools, some easy-to-do challenges, and career opportunities.

What the day looks like
9:00 - Registrations, logging onto computers - types of cyberattacks, cybercriminals, threat maps, Introduction to Cyber tools - Cyber Chef, Cryptii,
10:00 VM's (Nmap, Metasploit, hashcal etc), Kali Linux and PECAN+CTF Practice Challenges
10:30 - break
11:00 - ASD Cyber Experience - cyber roles and cyber challenges
12:00 - OSINT challenges and tools, PicoCTF - Practice gym,
1:00 - lunch
1:30 - Pico CTF, PECAN+CTF Practice Challenges, Over The Wire - Bandit
3:00 - hometime
Tuesday 11th July
Session times: - 9:00 to 3:00pm
Location: ECU Joondalup campus - School of Science Building 18. We will be working out of the computer labs located on Level 1. Registrations will also be on the first floor
Cost: $16.50
BYO Morning tea and lunch - At this stage please bring along your own food (lunch and morning tea) and water bottles. We can pop some food in the fridge if need be. We have water filling stations on level 1.
Parking and drop off: Please park at the visitor car park 14, where you can park and come in to drop off your child/children. The entrance is Deakin off Lakeside Drive. See Google Maps for directions.
On the day: We will be taking photos during the day so please ensure you tick or cross the photo permission box on the registration form. Parents and/or guardians are invited to come and view what we have created from 2:45 pm onwards.
