JCU TECHNOLOGY INNOVATION COMPLEX TOUR
Join the ACA QLD/NT on Thursday 22 June for a site tour of the James Cook University Technology Innovation Complex in Townsville. Although still in the final stages of construction, this event is a great opportunity to see the building before it's opened. Book now!
The architectural team at Richard Kirk Architects, Charles Wright Architects and i4 Architecture have designed a building for the engineering and allied disciplines that embraces next-generation pedagogical innovation spaces.
The approach to the project was to make a building that redefines what it means to build in the tropics – by allowing the facade to be entirely transparent from within and without, relying on a large dramatic parasol roof conceived as a series of folded plates.
Key to the design are multi-modal and social learning spaces – flexible areas where students, academics and industry participants can dynamically interact to cross-pollinate and develop ideas.
