About
Melbourne Kathak Festival showcases Kathak, the Indian classical dance form, while amalgamating with Hindustani and Western classical music.Like kathak is a confluence of many cultures, this festival celebrates the many different cultures of the Indian subcontinent and values the art of multicultural storytelling. Through this festival, we aim to pass traditional knowledge to the future generations so that the stories of the past have a place in our future.
This event will include thematic performances by young emerging South Asian artists residing in Australia and also a special performance by our guest artist from India, Jitender Singh Jamwal.
Jitender Singh is a notable Ghazal, Bhajan, Sufi singer and Music Director of India and has performed worldwide. He is a ‘TOP GRADE’ ghazal artist of All India Radio and an Empaneled artist of ICCR. In the successful career span of over 30 years, he has received many awards and honours and has worked with many reputed music labels.
