Nathan Hobby tells the story of her dramatic and resilient life - she is is radicalised by the Great War, wins fame for her novels Coonardoo, Haxby's Circus, and the goldfields trilogy, and marries war hero Hugo Throssell VC only to lose him to suicide. The Red Witch was an eight year quest which took the author from Prichard's cottage in Greenmount to Emerald, Yarram and archives in Melbourne, Canberra and Perth.
