In workshops supported by UKARIA and hosted by Aurora Vocal Ensemble, singers and conductors alike will have an opportunity to learn more about ensemble, singing technique and expanding resonance. To sing with them will be an incredible privilege for all.
Sjaella is Scandinavian and originally means soul. Uniform yet individual, gentle yet robust, precise yet free-flowing - this versatility is what Sjaella's sound is all about. Having sung together since age 13, they have strong connections and limitless enjoyment. Sjaella is the soul of the six women who appear together on stage. Their community feeds on play and individual strength. There is movement, language, noise and sound, with bodies, focus, and shared breath. They are open to new influences, love musical diversity and have the courage to challenge barriers. It is all of this that Sjaella experiences and seeks to share.
The voyage of discovery began for these artists in 2005, and it has now taken them around the world. Sjaella has been a fixture on the universal vocal music scene for years, performing concerts at renowned festivals, and winning first prize at many competitions. The ensemble has recently been on concert tours to South Africa, Belgium, Spain, and Norway.
This is their first visit to Australia in workshops and hosted by Aurora Vocal Ensemble, these workshops give singers and conductors alike an opportunity to learn more about ensemble, singing technique and expanding resonance. To sing with them will be an incredible privilege for all.
