SENSE OF PLACE - 1 Day Sensory Theatre Workshop
Inclusive art & Wheelchair accessible
@ Abbotsford Convent
> Only 15 spaces available
> Artists, art teachers, group facilitators or simply sensory curious persons are all welcome.
Join this special one-day workshop facilitated by the artist and performer Zya Kane for an exploration of sensory theater and the theme of 'a sense of place.' In this workshop, you'll have the chance to connect with your surroundings and memories using your senses. You'll work on your own and with others to create a story using movement and voice.
During the first part of workshop, you'll learn about the universal language of the senses and how to create immersive and interactive experiences. We'll explore how to capture people's imagination using sensory cues and express the atmosphere of a place through art.
Mapping Memories: Exploring Places and Times through the Senses - Through group activities and discussions, we'll discover how our senses can bring us back to specific moments in time and place. By the end, you'll have a greater understanding of the power of sensory memory and new tools to incorporate sensory elements into your own art.
*Please note for this workshop you are asked to bring with you an object that has a special memory for you. This can be anything from a letter to a stone or book, or a piece of clothing. Anything at all you feel to bring and happy to share stories about.
