Researching at the Australian War Memorial
About
As part of our Wednesdays@1 series, Genealogy SA will be hosting Shannon Sutton from the Australian War Memorial. Online via Zoom and broadcast into the library on Unley Road.
FREE for Genealogy SA members.
Join Shannon for an overview of the Research Centre collections, including using the Memorial’s search for a Person page which searches digitised records such as nominal rolls, honours and awards (including citations), and Red Cross Wounded and Missing Enquiry Bureau files. Shannon will also explore how to research your family history using key collections, chiefly unit war diaries and Official Histories which can add rich context to your ancestor’s military career beyond their service record.
Shannon Sutton is the Online Reference Manager of the Research Centre at the Australian War Memorial. The Research Centre holds written records documenting Australian involvement in war and operational service, as well as the historical background of conflicts in which Australia has been involved and their effects on Australian society.
Registrations close Wednesday 2 August, 9:00 am.
