Cortinarius identification workshop
About
Come and join us for a free fungi identification workshop, focusing on Cortinarius, one of Australia's largest groups of native fungi. Foray through Woorabinda Bushland Reserve and learn to recognise Cortinarius species in their natural habitat & contribute to the 'Wild Webcap' fungal diversity project.This workshop will cover:
- An introduction to the 'Wild Webcap' Cortinarius diversity project
- How to describe fungi specimens and identify common Cortinarius species
- Identify Cortinarius in their natural habitat and learn about the environments they occur in
- Upload observations to iNaturalist to help contribute to our fungal diversity survey
- Make microscope mounts & view spores
Please note that this workshop is not intended for children under 15, however they are welcome as long as they are supervised by a parent or guardian - they may also need an adult to help explain some of the concepts we are covering.
