Zonta's Grand Garden Tour for Hope Horizons
About
Zonta Toowoomba Garden City, together with Hope Horizons and The Ellie Project, is proud to bring you a very special event ... 'The Zonta Grand Garden Tour for Hope Horizons'.
This spectacular family home has not opened for a garden tour ... until now. By purchasing a $50 garden tour ticket, you make a $50 donation to Hope Horizons, gain entry into one of South-East Queensland's most coveted private gardens, enjoy a walk with friends, get a free photo taken by professional photographer Mel from Created Photography, and give families with children living with cancer a chance at normality. All proceeds from this event will go to Hope Horizons to fund the completion of The Ellie Project's playground for children living with cancer at the new Jenny Black Cancer Wellness Centre in Toowoomba.
This garden tour is both guided and self-guided. Our wonderful Zonta volunteers are well-informed and will be positioned throughout the garden to share garden design information, special features, historical touchpoints, plant species, and much more!
For your garden touring enjoyment, the Emerge Coffee van will be onsite for your drinking and snacking needs before or after your walk. Also, Mel from Created Photography will be roaming around to take beautiful *free* photos of you and your friends in the garden.
We kindly request that you commence/conclude your garden tour in accordance with the time slot that you have purchased and do not arrive at a different time slot as this may cause congestion. Also, we encourage groups wishing to 'tour together' to purchase their tickets all at once in one booking to ensure that you all get a ticket in the same viewing time slot.
Parking will be at the Jubilee/quarry carpark on Bridge Street (on the left just before Bridge Street becomes Prince Henry Drive). There are public toilets at this carpark. Please safely walk across Bridge Street, up Dudley Street to the black front gates of 2 East Street. The Zonta tour guides and signs will assist you. Please note that we will be checking tickets before entry into the garden, so please bring a print out/eCopy with you.
Why is it important to have a special playground for families experiencing cancer? Amongst many other changes, cancer dimishes your immune system, affects your coordination and balance, and makes your skin extra sensitive to the sun. Therefore, children with cancer need a clean, germ-free, playground that is extra-safe with plenty of specialised soft-fall. Also, it needs to be extremely well-shaded. This is exactly the type of playground that they are building at Hope Horizon's Jenny Black Cancer Wellness Centre here in Toowoomba! However, as Hope Horizons is a charity, we need your help to raise the funds necessary to pay for it.
Why is this garden tour more expensive than others? We have priced this garden tour based upon the vast experience of the garden-lovers in our Zonta club. These people have travelled the world to view spectacular public and private gardens. We were guided by their knowledge and experience when pricing this tour. Furthermore, ALL proceeds go directly to Hope Horizons. We like to think that this is 'a $50 donation to Hope Horizons with a free garden tour'! And all made possible thanks to the Mactaggart family!
Please note: All patrons must be fit and healthy to complete this garden tour. We encourage you to wear neat and tidy active wear with a hat, and prepare for an active walk. This is a private garden with original steps, possible uneven surfaces, possible slippery surfaces and possible trip hazards. Unfortunately, this tour is not suitable for children under 14 years, the very elderly, people in wheelchairs, nor people with walking frames/walking sticks. By purchasing a tour ticket, patrons agree that they undertake the Grand Garden Tour at Redwood Garden at their own risk. No liability is accepted by Zonta TGC, Hope Horizons, The Ellie Project, nor the Mactaggart family.
