Your Place - Gardening for Wildlife
About
Trentham Gardens for Wildlife group present an informal lecture for those interested or curious about indigenous plants and attracting wildlife to their garden.Dr Cassia Read will be the guest presenter and she'll explore how we can link the use of local native plants in our own gardens to a bigger picture.
Cassia, from the Castlemaine Institute, is a plant ecologist, educator and garden designer. She seeded the Wilderhoods concept in 2018 and has been working closely with her colleague Ada Nano, an animal ecologist, to pilot the project in two neighbourhoods in Castlemaine.
Cassia will present the basic principles of gardening to support local native biodiversity in our environment, particularly relevant given our proximity to the Wombat Forest.
Gardens for Wildlife is auspiced by Trentham Neighbourhood Centre, and was established by Hepburn Shire as a way of fostering interest and action in private gardens. The focus is on creating habitat for native wildlife.
