Hugo Race & Charlie Marshall
Two legends of 1980s post punk Melbourne team up at George Lane.
Hugo Race, acclaimed Melbourne-based international producer, performer and songwriter, delivers intense sonic soundscapes that merge rock, folk-roots, experimentalism, and electronica. In the arc of three decades Hugo has left a mercurial trail spanning his many own releases with his bands The True Spirit, Dirt music and Hugo Race Fatalists, and multiple international collaborations across studio albums, film, theatre, touring and festivals. In 2016, Hugo’s first book was published by Transit Lounge (Australia) describing some of these adventures entitled Road Series.
Charlie Marshall has been an important part of the Melbourne music scene since the 1980s. He’s been the guitar-slinging backbone for some of Melbourne’s finest bands from the legendary punk blues of Harem Scarem to the soulful intensity of The Body Electric.
