The War Against Palestine (SOLD OUT)
The War Against Palestine – occupation, accountability, and an uncertain future
Francesca Albanese (United Nations Special Rapporteur on Palestine)
Thousands of deaths and the unprecedented destruction of whole neighbourhoods, hospitals and infrastructure in Gaza compel us to look at the root causes of the violence. Whilst the Israeli government declared war against Hamas on 7 October 2023, international humanitarian law recognises that a state of war has existed since at least 1967 in the form of military occupation of the West Bank and Gaza. What we are currently witnessing may be this war’s most devastating chapter. Albanese will discuss the blockade of Gaza; the circumstances of occupation that preceded the Hamas offensive; the role of international law; and the future for Palestinian self-determination.
