Slava Grigoryan – Solo @ Berninneit - SOLD OUT (SOLD OUT)
ABOUT
ARIA award-winning guitarist Slava Grigoryan is doing just that….playing guitar….solo
A man and his guitar
Music by one, and for all
It has been 17 years since Slava last embarked on a solo tour. This has not been from a lack of desire. He’s just been busy, (very busy) writing, recording and performing both in Australia and internationally.
Most of the time has been spent in joyous sibling revelry with his brother Leonard. When not performing in duo format he has been cavorting and collaborating with an assortment of symphony orchestras and non-blood-related cohorts. These and other unions have seen him delve into a variety of styles and settings from classical to world music, from jazz to pop.
This very special intimate concert sees Slava performing music from his more recent solo releases:
Bach Cello Suites Vols I & II. These albums were the result of Slava’s decades-long love affair with the Suites, music which accompanied him throughout his life. Reflecting on Bach’s music, he says: “I’m constantly staggered by the universe of ideas in each movement of every Suite. The simplicity, the elegance, the structure and the spirit are simply breathtaking”. That each of these releases received the ARIA Award for Best Classical Album in consecutive years is a testament to Slava’s artistry. Some of these movements will be performed on a rarely heard member of the string family, the Baritone Guitar – an instrument with a rich mellifluous sound.
Gratitudes. This is Slava’s most recent offering on the Hush label.
Slava began writing the album during the pandemic to express his thanks for the “dedication and spirit” of healthcare workers who cared for us during this stressful time. For Slava, “Each of these pieces is a note of thanks, a little letter of gratitude, for all of the extraordinary work they continue to do in looking after us.'
This is a wonderful opportunity for audiences
to hear this astounding guitarist up close and personal.
