The Legato Orchestral Experience is a three day music camp held in early October where young people can experience playing in a full symphony orchestra. Young musicians aged between 10 and 18yrs (who have studied their instrument for more than 2 years and read music) can immerse themselves in an intensive musical experience culminating in an orchestral concert at the Charles Darwin University Theatre. Pianists and saxophonists may apply. We offer two orchestral piano positions (a shared role) but many pianists enjoy contributing to the percussion section of the orchestra. The Legato Choir includes all participants and helps develop aural skills. The three electives for 2024: All that Jazz, Boom-whacker and Handbells. and a New Orleans Brass Band. We are privileged to have members of the Australian Army Band running the Brass Band elective.]
