Teaching assistants play an invaluable role in supporting the education of students with disabilities in inclusive classrooms, however, recent research internationally has highlighted that the impact teaching assistants have on student outcomes can vary considerably and challenges the widely held belief that the support of a teaching assistant will result in positive outcomes for the student.
In this webinar, presented by Amanda Corby from Illume Learning, we will review the latest research internationally and provide practical, evidence-based recommendations to support school leaders.
We will discuss how to best deploy, utilise and support teaching assistants within our educational contexts to promote positive outcomes for students, both academically and socially. Examples of best practice from schools across Australia and New Zealand will be shared and focus on practical changes that can be made within educational settings to ensure the presence of a teaching assistant results in the best outcomes possible.
