Dance Nutrition
This 3-hour livestream Dance Nutrition workshop is designed specifically for dance teachers and health professionals involved in dancers’ health care, to optimise the dancers' performance, recovery and success in regard to healthy eating and nutrition practices.
The aims of this course are to gain an understanding of:
- the six principles of dance nutrition and their role in supporting dancers' health and performance
- supplements facts and myths - the role of energy and macronutrients
- nutrition strategies for pre, during and post training and the concept of energy availability
- causes, symptoms and management of Relative Energy Deficiency in Sport (RED-S)
- strategies to improve body image in dancers
- cultivating positive culture to empower dancers' self-nourishment
On completion of the course, you will understand:
- the six principles of dance nutrition
- the core food groups necessary to build healthful bodies to perform optimally and understand the connection between the mind and body relating to eating behaviours
- how flexible and healthful eating patterns are developed
- how to effectively communicate with your dancers on the topic of food, eating and bodies
- how to recognise unhealthful and/or disordered eating patterns in students and make appropriate referrals for intervention
- this often-dismissed area of health with confidence
