Mark Sinton (George Lane Matinee Sessions)
Melbourne-based singer/songwriter Mark Sinton is returning to music after a lengthy sabbatical from the industry.
He didn’t expect the break to be quite this long…
His previous London-based band, The Gasolineros, had just completed making their debut album Nash Point with producer Charlie Francis (REM, Turin Brakes, Robyn Hitchcock, High Llamas, Minus 5 and Wilco) and were preparing for a tour of Europe, Japan and Australia in 2005 when the band ended.
Over a decade passed until encouragement from old musician friends found him fronting a new band, The Mansions, with ex-members of Musket and The Paradise Motel.
An unexpected trip to his home town in Northern Ireland was the genesis for a stylistic shift with his debut solo album. ‘Change To Something New’ with Mark switching to piano as his principal instrument to best serve the songs.
