Long one of Melbourne’s pleasure grounds, St Kilda has harboured all sorts of people and all sorts of events – not all of them entirely respectable. In this talk, historian Graham Willett will highlight the ways in which LGBTQIA+ Melbournians have, over the decades, gathered there, creating places for themselves and turning established venues to their own purposes. Lady swimmers and naked bathing, cafes and cruising grounds, Arts Balls and HIV/AIDS Centres … all part of a rich history that is not talked about nearly enough. Till tonight.Location
