Etching & Tone 1 & 2: Sugarlift, Tone and Texture

Saturday 23 March & 13 April | 10-4pmDevelop and print one or two etchings over two Saturdays. Create images with line or blocks of tone with aquatint. These etching techniques will be perfect for tonal images, adding shade and texture. Suitable for beginners with some printmaking experience to intermediate.
The workshop will cover:
- Preparation of a copper plate
- The sugarlift technique
- The spray aquatint technique
- Etching in an acid bath
- Adding tone gradation or texture to the image
- Printing on a printmaking press
Below are some examples of plates and the prints made by participants. You will take home a series of your own hand pulled prints.
We finish on Saturday with an informal debrief and chat hour (4-5pm), about all things art, (weather permitting in the garden).
Bring your own lunch. Tea, coffee and snacks provided.
Please note: toilet is only accessible via stairs.
