Loneliness is one of the biggest mental health epidemics our country has ever faced. 1 in 3 Australians express feeling lonely, figures only exacerbated by the many long months of covid.Loneliness leads to increased chronic disease, depression, social anxiety, poor well-being, and many other detrimental effects on a person's quality of life. As Christians we have the antidote to loneliness - God has put us in communities. We will consider the impacts of loneliness as well as strategies that can help us combat loneliness within our own communities and beyond.
Mairi has spent a lifetime journeying with people, both formally and informally. She headed up Women's Ministries in Victoria for 10 years, and currently works in private practice at On Track Counselling, trains counselling students with AIFC, is working on a Masters focussing on neurodiversity within Christian community, and homeschooling. She enjoyed knitting and hanging with people in her spare time!
