SPREAD THE WORD: BAYSIDE’S UPSTANDERS EXHIBITION
About
You are invited to join us for the official launch of Spread the word: Bayside's Upstanders exhibition.
Spread the word is a collaborative project between renowned local artist Noni Drew and a network of five schools across Bayside who are part of The Upstanders community. Artist and educator Noni Drew led workshops with 100 grade five students who each created graphic slogans against bullying, culminating in a street exhibition across the Bayside municipality from until 18th March 2024. On display on in the Corporate Centre is a sampling of the artworks created by these talented students.
Now in its eleventh year, The Upstanders are invited to upskill their knowledge on social and emotional learning and exercise their creative talents in spreading positive messages throughout the community. This year, the students were challenged to take their message to the broader Bayside Community beyond their own schools by producing anti-bullying slogans that will become graphic footpath decals in each of the major shopping districts. Their works are aimed at inspiring the students, and our community, to speak up, find their voice, and support one another. The students were encouraged to develop important values such as kindness, integrity, respect and fairness and put them into practice.
