About
This training is a 3 days workshop on Mentalization-Based Treatment for Families (MBT-F) offering a practical approach to the key elements of the model. The training includes a focus on employing the core mentalizing stance with families, approaches to assessment including developing a mentalizing profile as well as the opportunity to develop specific skills and techniques for working with families from a mentalizing perspective.
Who is this training suitable for?
This training is suitable for professionals working in the field of child and family mental health. Ideally, applicants should have a mental health qualification, for example, child psychotherapy, psychology, psychotherapy, arts therapies, family therapy, counselling, psychiatry, mental health nursing, social work and have experience of working therapeutically with children and families. The course assumes prior experience of therapeutic work with children. If you are unsure, please contact us to discuss further.
In order to maximise the practical elements of the workshop there will be some pre-training material on mentalizing to be completed prior to attending the training.

TRAINERS
Dr Emma Keaveny Cook is a clinical psychologist now based in Sydney who was employed by the Anna Freud Centre from 2009 to 2012 and worked within the MBT-F team, continuing to develop the approach, and offering trainings at the Centre and in Denmark and Sweden. Since she left in 2012 to move to Australia, she has continued to offer trainings in Australia and in the UK. Emma is an experienced clinician and supervisor and is an approved MBT-F trainer, registered supervisor and practitioner with the Anna Freud Centre Centre in London.
Mr Raymond Ho is an accredited mental health & an accredited clinical social worker, a clinical family therapist and a Certified Gottman Therapist. He was the first person who brought the MBT-F and AMBIT training to Australia and has been supporting the development of MBT-F and AMBIT practice within the Child and Youth Mental Health Sector in Queensland. He has over 30 years of clinical experience and has been providing training and supervision to mental health professionals in Australia and overseas. Raymond is an approved trainer and a registered practitioner and supervisor with the Anna Freud Centre in London.
